To kickoff the upcoming summer season, the Southeast Wyoming Outdoor Recreation Collaborative is hosting a volunteer cleanup day at Roger’s Canyon on Saturday, June 8th, 2024. This workday is in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management, Common Outdoor Ground, Laramie City Landfill, Laramie Rifle Range, and the Southeast WY Climbers Coalition.
Southeast Wyoming Outdoor Recreation Collaborative (SWORC) is a grassroots initiative facilitated by the Wyoming Office of Outdoor Recreation that brings together local community members, stakeholders, federal and state agencies, and other non-governmental organizations to support sustainable outdoor recreation growth and enhancements in Albany and Carbon counties.
The cleanup is part of the SWORC’s initiative to improve and bring awareness to the Roger’s Canyon recreation area which is enjoyed by many Wyoming residents looking for close-to-home recreation on public lands.
Located just north of Laramie, Roger’s Canyon is a popular multi-use recreation site managed by the Bureau of Land Management, where recreationalists can enjoy climbing, biking, hiking, sightseeing, shooting sports, and more.
Volunteers are welcome to join the cleanup initiative at any time between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. To reach the cleanup site, take 9th Street in Laramie north for 9 miles (41.387376, -105.478322). Volunteers will meet at the first large turnout; there will be a sign-in table.
Lunch will be provided for those who RSVP by Friday, May 31st at 11:59 pm. Carpooling is encouraged since parking is limited. The Laramie Rifle Range will also give out Rifle Range Day Passes to volunteers as supplies last.
